The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer In Two Volumes Rendered into Modern English Verse by Frank Ernest Hill The Limited Editions Club, 19 34. Fifteen hundred copies of this edition have been printed by George W. Jones at The Sign of The Dolphin in Gough Square, London from the Linotype Granjon designed by him. The frontispiece to this edition, a reproduction of the Frampton marble bust of Chaucer in the Guildhall Library, is from a pencil drawing by Dorothy Woollard.
The Chaucer signature is re-cut from the only one known, which is in The Public Record Office, London. This copy is signed on the colophon page by George W. Books in slipcase measure 2 7/8" x 8" x 12 7/8 tall, 761 pp. Condition: Books have sunned spines, soiling on covers and edges, worn corners and edges, protected by glassine. Slipcase has soiling, spine worn, worn on corners and edges, top edge right side has a 2 crack.
