All Men are Brothers Shui hu Chuan 2 Vol. Translated by Nobel prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck and an Introduction by the celebrated Chinese author and scholar Lin Yutang. The book is full of beautiful illustrations by.

This is number 593 of 1500 copies and is signed by Miguel Covarrubias. For the paper, the Worthy Paper Company specially manufactured paper with a deep color in it, full of threads, and designed to look like the rugged paper which the Chinese popular artists used for their color prints. The illustrations were first drawn in line by Mr. Covarrubias, and then were reproduced though line engravings and printed by letterpress.

On the prints, Covarrubias painted in bold colors. These prints were then colored by hand through stencils in the studio of Paul Baruch in New York City.

All of the printed sheets, and all of the illustrations, were then gathered and sewn together. The sewing was done in the Chinese style, to give both volumes the flavor of books bound in China.

The legendary Frank Fortney was responsible for the binding. He covered the two volumes with a material that is really bark of a tree, hammered out, and with hammered pieces of the wood remaining in it!

The volumes are housed in a solander case container compounded of Chinese orange and Chinese red. The set comes with an outer box (that is cracked) and inner slipcase (that shows some signs of aging) and two volumes of books in excellent condition see pictures for all details on condition.
